Learn about my approach, values, and dedicated to your recovery.
My path as a physical therapist has grown over more than 41 years of hands-on work with people at every stage of life. I began in pediatric physical therapy, where I developed a deep appreciation for how gently supporting the body can make a meaningful difference. Over the years, my work naturally expanded beyond traditional physical therapy to include advanced manual and complementary approaches such as craniosacral therapy and integrative manual therapy. What has remained constant is my belief in listening closely to the body and offering care that is thoughtful, individualized, and supportive of each person’s unique healing process.

If you’re in Newmarket, New Hampshire, and struggling with pain that hasn’t improved, an injury that keeps returning, or a condition that feels difficult to treat, you’re not alone.
Many individuals from the Newmarket area, including those near Main Street, the Lamprey River, and the University of New Hampshire, are looking for a more thoughtful, individualized approach to care — especially when traditional physical therapy hasn’t fully resolved the issue.
Michelle Smith, PT offers one-to-one, hands-on physical therapy designed specifically for complex, chronic, and sensitive conditions, just a short drive from Newmarket in nearby Portsmouth and Newington, NH.
Not all bodies respond to standard protocols — and not all care should be the same.
With over 40 years of experience, Michelle’s work bridges traditional physical therapy with advanced manual and integrative techniques, allowing care to adapt to how your body actually responds.
This approach is especially helpful for individuals who:
Have tried physical therapy before without lasting results
Are dealing with chronic pain or recurring injuries
Have hypermobility or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
Feel sensitive to aggressive or high-intensity treatments
Are looking for gentle, hands-on care that works with the body, not against it
